ISLAMABAD: The meteorological department on Sunday forecast a three-day countrywide rainspell with snowfall over the hills in the next 48 hours.

Partly cloudy weather conditions with light rain and snowfall over the hills are expected at isolated places of Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Quetta, Zhob divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit and Kashmir.

Islamabad received a drizzle on Sunday morning.

Temperatures in some of the major cities recorded on Sunday were: Islamabad and Lahore nine degrees centigrade, Karachi 21, Peshawar 10, Quetta 6, Gilgit -1, Murree 2 and Muzaffarabad 5 degree centigrade.

The Met Office said a westerly wave had entered Pakistan and was expected to persist in the upper parts of the country till Tuesday. It will bring rains and snowfall over the hills in lower KP, north Balochistan, south Punjab and upper Sindh.
