KARACHI: CNG sector stakeholders, transporters and traders in Sindh have threatened to observe a complete strike if the CNG crisis created by the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) is not resolved.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday All-Pakistan CNG Association (Sindh Zone) Chairman Shabbir Sulemanjee, Karachi Transport Ittehad President Irshad Bukhari, Interior Sindh CNG Association Chairman Zulfiqar Ahmed Yousufani and All-Karachi Tajir Ittehad Chairman Atiq Mir gave details of their plan for peaceful protest.

They said that as a first step, CNG station owners, their workforce and transporters would hold a sit-in at the SSGCL office in Hyderabad on Dec 29 to lodge their peaceful protest following a press conference at the Hyderabad Press Club.

They also plan to hold a rally at the Chief Minister House or Governor’s House or at the SSGCL Headquarters. Earlier, the CNG station owners, along with other members, blocked the Sharea Faisal for 20 minutes to record their protest.

They said discriminatory measures were being taken in Sindh while disturbing its natural resources, violating the fundamental rights of the stakeholders.

They said that the SSGCL MD had assured CNG stakeholders on Nov 15 that the company would conduct CNG load-shedding for two days in a week except for the extreme situations during winter when there would be a three-day closure.—Staff Reporter
