LAHORE: A man allegedly threw acid on his ex-wife and two daughters and injured them near Nonarian Chowk in Sherakot on Wednesday.

Police said victim Noreen was going to drop her two daughters Asma and Afia to their school when suspect Azeem Baig approached them and escaped after throwing acid on them.

The victims who suffered light burns were admitted to a local hospital, police added.

Preliminary police inquiries showed that Azeem, who had given divorce to his wife a few months ago, was trying to contact her again for reconciliation, but woman’s parents refused the move.

The woman had shifted to a rented house near Nonarian Chowk along with her three daughters and started earning her livelihood by sewing clothes.

Police registered a case under Section 324 of PPC and 7-ATA on the complaint of Noreen and began investigation. Police said the suspect was on the run till 10:30pm.
