RAWALPINDI: Traffic wardens on the VVIP duty beat up three officials of Islamabad police on Tuesday evening over wrong parking.

Sajjad Akhtar and Adil Fraz, the wardens of Rawalpindi traffic police, were clearing route for the movement of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif when they spotted a private car with three persons inside it being parked on the route.

They asked its driver to remove the car but he resisted which led to a physical fight, leaving the policemen injured.

The police officers in plain clothes had come to give protocol to a VIP.

Later, the senior traffic officer (STO) Zulfiqarul Haq suspended the two traffic wardens and asked them to patch up with the ICT police personnel.

When contacted, the airport police confirmed that they had received a complaint from the ICT police officials but they had been advised to bring a medico-legal, if they wanted a criminal case against the wardens.
