LAHORE: Pakistan Police outplayed Balochistan 17-6 on Thursday to lift the sixth Men’s Softball Championship title at the Central University Punjab Ground.

Police dominated the seven-innings final from the outset and did not allow Balochistan to bounce back. Burhan Johar scored four runs while Zubair Watoo (3) and Abdullah (3) played well for the winners.

Balochistan captain Adil Zaman was outstanding for his team, scoring three runs.

In the match for the third place, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa edged Sindh 12-9.

POA chief Gen Arif Hasan was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the prizes including the winner’s trophy to Police captain Tariq Nadeem.

He praised the standard of softball in the event and said he has no doubt that if the players get more exposure and assistance they will excel in international softball events as well.

Arif said his organisation is prepared to provide all the help and assistance to the Sotball Federation of Pakistan (SFP) for promotion of the game.

Also present on the occasion were Pakistan Baseball Federation secretary Khawar Shah, head-coach Asif Azeem, chief selector Marooful Hasan and BSA secretary Naseem Khan.
