NOWSHERA: The local police recovered three Afghan nationals, who were kidnapped for ransom, and arrested their five abductors during a raid at Baghban Pura area here on Tuesday.

The abductors were demanding US dollars 0.3 million as ransom money for release of the Afghans, but Nowshera police arrested the accused and recovered three Afghan nationals from their captivity. The police also seized two pistols, laptops, cellphone sets and iron chains from their possession, according to district police officer Rabnawaz Khan.

He said that on a tip-off about presence of suspected persons in Baghban Pura area, Akora Khattak police formed a raiding party comprising SP investigation Syed Israruddin Bacha, DSP Akora Khattak circle Tahir Iqbal and SHO Akora Khattak Naseem Khan to conduct raids in the area.

During the action, the police arrested four Afghan nationals identified as Khan Gul of Logar, Rasool Khan and Rehmat Ullah of Paktia, Abdul Hadi of Kabul, and Ameen Ullah Taj of Peshawar.

Mr Rabnawaz said that police also recovered three kidnapped Afghan nationals identified as Syed Wali of Mazar-i-Sharif and Abdul Baseer and Sakhi Dad of Kabul, who were found in chains.
