ISLAMABAD: The capital administration on Thursday night banned pillion riding for one week in view of terrorism threats in the city.

Officials in the administration said the interior ministry had received intelligence reports about the threats of terrorism.

The reports said telephone calls made from the tribal areas were intercepted which talked about the presence of six terrorists in Islamabad. The ministry was informed that the terrorists had penetrated the sit-ins disguising themselves as protesters and were waiting for directions to carry out terror activities.

In response, the ministry alerted all the law enforcement agencies and the departments concerned and directed them to take precautionary measures.

On its part, the capital administration banned pillion riding for a week. The intelligence reports said the terrorists might use the two wheelers for carrying out their activities and escaping.
