There was no issue of the paper on the day on account of the death anniversary of the Quaid-i-Azam. Reproduced below are excerpts from a news item that appeared the day before.

KARACHI: The Quaid-i-Azam’s Mausoleum — the last resting pace of the Father of the Nation — will now be ready next year. The completion of the monument in 1965 will be possible as arrangements have now been made for regular supply of white marble from Mardan area. Modern methods of extracting marble in the quarry are being adopted through the installation of imported machinery to replace the old system of blasting marble by gun-powder. After the concreting of the dome by the end of this month, the whole structural work of the mausoleum will be complete.

The platform, which forms the base of the mausoleum, measures 300 x 300 feet and is approached by flights of steps on all sides except to the east where lie the Mazars of the Quaid-i-Millat and Sardar Abdur Rab Nishtar. Right beneath the dome is the grave where the Quaid-i-Azam lies in eternal rest. Over the basements stretches the superstructure, 90 feet x 90 feet, and the dome rises to a height of 105 feet from the site of the Quaid’s grave.
