TIMERGARA: Youth have been urged to acquire technical education to earn their living in an honourable way.

This was stated by Dir Task Force Commandant Colonel Nasar Umar Hayat Laleka while addressing people at a free medical camp at Gal Shagai Maidan on Tuesday. The medical camp has been organised by the Pak Army. He said the security forces had been engaged in rebuilding schools damaged by militants in Maidan area.

Male and female doctors provided medical treatment and free medicines to over 1,200 patients, including women and children, at the camp.

Colonel Laleka said it was the age of science and technology and that children must be equipped with modern education in order to compete in practical life.

He said majority of the damaged schools had been rebuilt while the rest would also be reconstructed soon. He asked the people to keep an eye on strangers and inform security forces on seeing any suspected person in their areas.

The army official said that residents would be questioned if any untoward incident occurred in their villages. He said the Pakistan army was spending Rs600,000 on the free medical camp and asked the people to take benefit of the facility.

Meanwhile, a meeting of schoolteachers was held at government higher secondary school, Lal Qila Maidan, chaired by Major Mohammad Bangash.

On the occasion, Mr Bangash urged teachers to ensure their presence at schools and impart quality education to children.

He said that he had received complaints that teachers at some schools had been absenting duty and warned them of punishment under the law. The teachers promised to perform duties with devotion and sincerity.
