Pims’ mobile hospitals for IDPs

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) has sent two mobile hospitals along with a team of 36 doctors and staff to Bannu to provide medical facilities to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan.

Moreover the hospital has started a campaign to collect donations for the IDPs and a command and control centre has been opened at the hospital for this purpose.

It is pertinent to mention here that after 2005 earthquake, two mobile hospitals were donated to Pims and both were used to provide medical assistance to IDPs.

Both hospitals were also used for the IDPs of Swat.

Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University Islamabad Prof Dr Javed Akram, while talking to Dawn, said six-bed hospitals had been sent to Bannu.

“There are facilities of ultrasound, laboratory, X-Ray and operation. The staff headed by Dr Asfandyar has been working there, and after every week, they will be replaced.

“The staff is also providing facility of mother and child health care,” he said.
