LAHORE: The results of Lahore Regional Cricket Association’s West and East zones were announced by the PCB on Friday.

The polls had been held on Nov 29 last year.

PCB’s newly-appointed election commissioner Ahmad Shahzad Farooq Rana announced the results in the presence of contesting candidates after disposal of a writ petition by the Lahore High Court.

The PCB did not announce the result of North zone as the status of Shahdara Cricket Club is yet to be decided by the court.

The group backed by LRCA’s former interim chairman Aizad Saiyed won the elections from the East by 22-18, while the group supported by LRCA’s former president Khawaja Nadeem won the elections from the West by 29-19.

According to unofficial results of the North zone, Khawaja Nadeem’s group is leading there by 23-14.

Hence, Khawaja has become a strong candidate to get elected as LRCA president again.

Results: East Zone: Sharaiz Abdullah Khan (president), Ahmad Ayaz Khan (secretary), Ghulam Abbas (treasurer).

West Zone: Zulfiqar Ahmed (president), Mansoor Hayat Khan (secretary), Mohammad Aslam (treasurer).

The concern is that if the government is thinking of cutting costs through the merger, we might even lose the functionality levels we currently have.
