TIMERGARA, Aug 13: Speakers at a function on Tuesday termed peace and education vital for development and prosperity of a nation.

The Pakistan Peace and Solidarity Council (PPSC), Lower Dir organised the function chaired by its general secretary Ibrash Pasha. The seminar was attended by people from different walks of life, including women, children, social activists and youth.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Pasha said the PPSC was a voluntary organisation committed to bringing peace in Pakistan.

He said the council had been organising youth to take up the right path and making them aware about the changing world.

A social activist Akbar Khan said development and was not possible without peace and quality education led to prosperity.

A local journalist Akbar Saeed said Islam was a complete code of life and that following its teachings could help better maintain peace.

ACTION AGAINST ABSENT STAFF: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister for industries, commerce, labour, manpower and technical education Bakht Baidar Khan on Tuesday ordered action against absent staff in health centres and schools in his PK-97 constituency.

He issued the directives during a surprise visit to Gulabad rural health centre, Osakai basic health unit and government-run schools, local officials said.

The minister was informed that power generator of Gulabad health centre had been taken away by the then EDO health Shaukat Ali which had not been returned to the hospital.

The minister directed the existing district health officer to immediately return the generator to health centre. —Correspondent
