LAHORE, May 4: Most classes at public schools and colleges are expected to remain suspended from May 8 onwards because of teachers’ involvement in election duties. The classes will formally resume on May 13.

A school education department senior official told Dawn that contrary to rumours the department had no plans to notify schools’ closure from May 8 onwards. He said classes would not be held regularly and students might be asked informally to stay home. He said the department would not notify holidays because the teachers who had not been assigned election duties would be required to stay in schools as standby staff. — Staff Reporter
