KARACHI: The Secretary General of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Sindh chapter, Saleem Zia Advocate, has said that some political parties are trying to delay the general elections in the country on different pretext.

Addressing a news conference at Karachi Press Club on Saturday, he appealed to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to complete the printing process of the voters lists.

Other provincial leaders of PML-N including Irfanullah Marwat and Raja Abdullah were also present on the occasion.

Zia alleged that delimitation of election constituencies in Karachi and corrections in voters lists was not carried out as per directives of the Supreme Court.

He said that delimitation was made in only three National Assembly and seven provincial assembly constituencies due to ‘unknown reasons,’ which he said was accepted by the PML-N and other parties to merely avoid the delay in elections.

Saleem Zia further said some parties are unnecessarily raising issues with an intention to delay the polls but, he vowed that the PML-N will resist any move to delay the elections in the country.

To a question about the seats adjustment among ten parties’ alliance in Sindh, he said that the matters pertaining to the seat adjustment have been almost settled amicably.
