SINCE 2008 the PPP government has been neglecting the Pakistan Railways. In every budget, the government announced an amount for the development of Railways but has not paid any money to the department in five years.

THE Pakistan Railways caters to the mass movement of people and freight. An effective railway system facilitates trade and reduces transportation cost in comparison to other means of transportation. This eventually promotes rural development and national integration among commuters.

The PR has a potential and always played a crucial role in the development of Pakistan. Economy and trade directly depend on a railway network. For the progress of business and trade, a successful rail network is necessary.

The government should buy new locomotives for operating the rail network because 100 locomotives cannot run the whole network smoothly. The government should give funds for repairing tracks which have completed their age.

For the development of economy and prosperity of the nation an effective railway network is vital.
