KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has advised Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad to immediately withdraw his resignation and resume his responsibilities as governor.

According to a statement issued by the MQM on Wednesday, Altaf Hussain said this while speaking to Ishratul Ibad by telephone.

The MQM chief urged Ibad to withdraw his resignation for the cause of peace and stability in the country, especially Sindh.

Altaf Hussain also advised him to continue his role to maintain harmony among different sections of society, the party statement said.

On Tuesday an MQM Rabita Committee statement had said that Ishratul Ibad enjoyed the full confidence of Altaf Hussain.

Ibad had left for Dubai earlier this week due to health reasons, but not before he had sent his resignation to President Zardari.
