Sadequain remains an artist who is as relevant as ever. His paintings and murals have received a number of accolades and now it is his poetry in the form of Urdu rubaiye (quatrains) which is being rediscovered. He once said "the measure of an artist is to be measured by his relevance and popularity 50 years after his death." Past the halfway mark now, it seems his sun is waxing stronger with every day to come and will be even more popular at the 50-year mark. - Text excerpted from 'letters to the editor' written by Syed Sultan Ahmed Naqvi in 2012.
