ISLAMABAD, Jan 15: The Ministry of Capital Administration and Development (CAD) has announced its decision to keep all the government and private colleges and schools closed on Wednesday.

However, as scheduled the exams of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) will begin on Wednesday.

It may be noted that due to the long march and sit-in of Tehrik-i-Minhajul Quran in the capital city, schools remained closed since Monday.

Joint Secretary CAD Rafique Tahir while talking to Dawn said Jinnah Avenue bisected Islamabad and there were educational institutions on both sides of the road.

“We cannot take risk that is why the holiday has been extended for another day.”

Malik Ibrar, a representative of the private school and college owners association, confirmed that their institutions would also remain closed on Wednesday.

“CAD has issued a circular regarding holiday and we are bound to follow it because in case of any mishap the management of the schools will be considered responsible.

Moreover, due to the unavailability of public transport students will be facing problem,” he said.

IIUI spokesman Hairan Khattak said the terminal examination (Fall 2012) would be held as per schedule from Wednesday.

Buses of the university will provide pick-and-drop service to the students, he said. —A Reporter
