KARACHI: The Working Committee of the Pakistan Muslim League yesterday called for the revision of the present foreign policy so as to make it “independent and capable of fostering friendship with all neighbours, particularly China, Russia and Islamic countries”.

At the conclusion of the two-day meeting in Karachi, the League Executive lashed out at the Western Powers for giving massive arms aid to India in “utter disregard” of the defensive interest of Pakistan, their ally.

The Western allies, it said, knew full well that the bulk of Indian army was massed on the border of Pakistan and that “any type of military assistance given to India without ensuring a corresponding increase in the striking and defensive power of Pakistan would create a great disparity and would ultimately bring about an imbalance calculated to disturb international peace and security in the region”.

The League High Command, which met with Khawaja Nazimuddin in the chair, warned the Pakistan Government against accepting a solution to the Kashmir dispute which is repugnant to the basic principle of self-determination, as embodied in the UN Resolutions.

It also cautioned the Government against flirting with the idea of joint Indo-Pakistan defence as it is fraught with “dangerous consequences and possibilities”. —Staff Correspondent
