IF any government is interested in the welfare of the people, there are a million and one ways to address health-related problems of our fellow countermen.

Instead of being reactive, why can’t we just be proactive? For instance, if a state-of-the-art stadium is constructed in every district, at least two parks (one for families/ladies), a swimming pool and one proper playground (with a proper shower and washrooms) in every UC would provide a positive and refreshing atmosphere for the people.

Moreover, besides general hospitals a world-class specialised hospital must be set up in every district.

Instead of spending billions of rupees every year on buying expensive machines, which become useless within no time, all such services, including CT scan, dialysis, X-ray and laboratory tests, must be outsourced through transparent tendering to third parties and a foolproof system might be devised, including acquiring a copy of the CNIC, biometric fingerprints of the patient, authorisation slip of the physician concerned, as well as his/her immediate supervisor etc, to ensure that the facilities are not abused.
