Famous Pakistani models cat walked on the ramp at a fashion show displaying traditional and modern dresses designed by students. This colourful evening was organised by a private university on the eve of the 5th of December at Deann Trade Center Peshawar. Such a fashion show by the Iqra University with the support of top model's in Peshawar is positive sign of peace and normalcy in the KPK capital, which has always been portrayed with a terrorist face. The participants and the organizers believe, such events would not only build a positive image of the province but would also help bring in investors to the province as well besides boosting the nascent fashion industry in the province.—Photos by Zahir Shah Sherazi and Agencies

Everything is important in life, fashion is also important, its part of life, god welcomes it. fashion is about celebrating beauty of the clothes you wear. But one thing should be kept in mind is fashion should not be reduced to vulgarity that is against piousness. Avoiding extremes is the trick for survival and growth of fashion industry especially in Pakistan a Islamic republic.

it's really good to see a social activity in Peshawar. Its' hard to believe this. But in my humble opinion there are many other social activities which can make people more active and interactive....Fashion show at this point of time would little getting over optimistic....we have serious law and order issues and these shows could trigger those who are creating L&O issue..... !!!

IQRA-- a word from the Al- Quran with strong connotations about learning, science and technology. This is what the principal Obaid ur Rehman and his flock make translate it into. Pipe dreams rule.

Hyperbolic statement. By world standards, our models are at best average, our fashion designers worse than mediocre. They only subsist in the high society bubble of this country.

I think people living in peshawar in general are considered conservative especially those who belong to pashtun community,so I have a feeling that females contesting in this show are non-pashtuns.

I think moderation is the answer and not celebrating beauty or ugliness. The truth is in the middle in moderation. To extremes have to be avoided left and the right and one should move in the center.

Seriously! don't we have better things to do like eradicating poverty, illiteracy and injustice. What a waste money, time and resources. This is just blind pursuit of materialistic possession. We don't need fashion sense to improve our lives. We don't need the fashion industry to tell us how to lead our lives and have a distorted low self esteem because some model Photoshoped to death looks a certain way. I think its a step backward for Peshawar instead of gloating about. This is not putting a man on the moon or finding cure for cancer.

We should promote those fashion trends which help to cover woman's body.

Wow - such beautiful ladies and the fashion so exotic! Being a nation of people with an eclectic and fused background, genetically and culturally, the people of Pakistan are very attractive, and as things become more normal, their fashion industry would take the world by storm!

Why in the world we think that positive is only when we imitate west. This is the narrowest mind set that we don't have our own identity and if we have we consider it negative and everything from west is considered positive and we feel proud to copy that. Don't we have anything our own. We are pathetic particularly our so called elite are irreparable. We think positive image means fashion, nudity, recklessness and speaking English. We are a lost nation.

Can the women in Peshawer afford to wear all that what is shown by the models?
im not against holding fashion shows as it is innovative enhancement towards broader prospect in conservative society like Peshawer . but y can't designer pursue the rich cultural heritage that khyber pakhtun khawa has? the Kaylash dressing, chitrali, balti, the hunza valley diverse cultural social dressing sold for million of pounds in U.K. y can't it b in our fashion shows? y v want our women to b half nude?
