HYDERABAD: Physically-challenged players held a demonstration on Tuesday outside the local press club demanding implementation of two per cent quota in the government sector.

However, the protesters holding medals and shields they had won during the 16th Sindh Games Hyderabad, turned violent when vehicle of Special Assistant to Sindh chief minister on Sports Dr Mohammad Ali Shah accidentally hit a physically-challenged youth and gold medallist in the Games namely Sakhawat Ali whose shield also fell and broke into pieces but who remained unhurt.

The protesters going berserk stopped Dr Shah’s vehicle and blocked the road for a while and hit his vehicle and other vehicles of the convoy with their legs and hands.

However, policemen dispersed them to let Dr Shah’s convoy go.

It is to be noted that Sakhawat won two medals — a gold and a bronze in Muay Thai — and a shield of honour in Wushu Kung Fu event during the 16th Games.

The demonstration, held under the aegis of the Mirpurkhas Special Sports Association, was led by international coach Santosh alias Akmal and others.
