THIS refers to my letter (Oct 25). The ministry of Gilgit Baltistan took notice of the letter and outrightly rejected the summary sent by the chief minister and the governor of Gilgit Baltistan.

The move by the minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan has been highly appreciated by the people, especially the legal fraternity. It will not be out of place to mention that the government of Gilgit Baltistan tried to foist its ‘jiyalas’ on the apex court. The High Court Bar of Gilgit Baltistan strongly objected to this act of favouritism.

The minister for Kashmir affairs and GB has taken notice of this illegality and directions have been sought for fresh summaries.

The people of GB, especially the legal fraternity, request the minister for Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan affairs to make sure that the appointment of judges in the apex court is in accordance with the rules and procedures laid down by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), or the task should be given to the JCP in order to eradicate any mismanagement in the appointment of judges for the apex court of Gilgit Baltistan.
