LANDI KOTAL, Nov 23: Two tribal elders were killed in the remote Tirah valley of Khyber Agency on Friday.

Yarman Khan and Waris, of the Kamarkhel tribe, died when an explosive device planted in the Sheengarh area near Takhtaki village went off.

They were attacked when they were going to a mosque.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack till late Friday evening.

This is the second incident of its kind near Takhtaki, a relatively peaceful village.

In the first incident, a tribal elder, Rashid Khan, died and another, Adam Khan, suffered critical injuries.

Takhtaki village has so far avoided taking sides despite pressures from different militant groups — Lashkar-i-Islam, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and Ansaarul Islam.

Meanwhile, a militant was killed and two others were injured in clashes between Lashkar-i-Islam and Tawheedul Islam.
