Pillion-riding ban

LAHORE, Nov 22: The Punjab government has banned pillion riding on Muharram 9 and 10 (Saturday and Sunday).

According to an announcement made here on Thursday, the home department has directed all district coordination officers in the province to impose the ban on pillion riding on motorcycles/scooters for a period of two days, Muharram 9 and 10, within the limits of their respective districts.

This order shall not apply to the armed forces, police personnel in uniform and on duty. Exemption has also been given to females, children under the age of 12 years and media persons possessing a valid photo identity besides a computerized national identity card. — Staff Reporter
