THE Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Stevta) announced vacancies through advertisement on Feb 23 for teaching and non-teaching trades.

In response, 2,628 candidates applied. A test was conducted by the National Testing Service on April 29 in different cities. First, they did not disclose the result on the NTS website.

This can damage the creditability of the NTS and Stevta.

Then they called up candidates for interview without announcing the list of those who passed the test. After interview in June, the final result has never been announced by the Stevta or NTS as yet. When the Stevta and the NTS authorities are contacted, they do not response properly regarding the final merit list. Instead, they just tell that appointments have been made.

Violation of rules and regulation has been committed in the selection process for the above-mentioned posts, and merit has been violated by Stevta authorities because of nepotism and favouritism.

Relatives and friends of high-ups and officers of Stevta have been appointed rather than meritorious and deserving candidates.

I ask the authorities concerned whether Stevta is somebody’s personal property where jobs are sold.

I request the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take action against violation of merit in Sindh, and an inquiry be made into favouritism in appointments.
