ABBOTTABAD, Nov 7: The local chapter of Pakistan Doctors Association (PDA) threatened here on Wednesday to extend its protest to other parts of the province if government failed to recover Dr Abdul Aziz within one week.

Dr Abdul Aziz, the senior registrar of Ayub Medical Complex, was kidnapped by unidentified persons on October 24.

In this connection a meeting of PDA was held with its Abbottabad chapter president Dr Sajjad in the chair.

Dr Sajjad told journalists after the meeting that doctors would provide only emergency cover to patients in the hospitals. He said that private clinics would also remain closed to protest against the government for its failure to recover their kidnapped colleague.

The PDA leader said that they would extend their protest to other parts of the province if the kidnapped doctor was not recovered within a week.

Dr Aziz was kidnapped when he was going from Swabi to Abbottabad. His family members approached the local police station when they lost contact with him. Later, a case was registered at Kalu Khan police station in Swabi.

The family sources said that they had no enmity with anyone and police had got some clues to the whereabouts of the kidnapped doctor.

They were of the view that the doctor was kidnapped for ransom.
