APROPOS the picture of the largest flag improvised by students in the hockey stadium, Lahore (Oct 23), I submit that the event no doubt was a masterpiece that deserved recognition by the Guinness World Records.

Yet I feel that such a rare accomplishment that might occur once in a blue moon ought to have been preserved in a better way. It would not have been difficult to take its photographs straight up from a helicopter or a light plane in order to delineate the full design in colour.

That would have made a grand presentation for the media. I do not understand why an aerial picture could not be taken and why the occasion was not graced with the national anthem presented by the 42,000 students holding green and white cards. The organisers have missed an opportunity.

Stepping stone

IT is indeed very heartening to see Pakistan’s entry in the Guinness World Record for ‘largest human flag’ in the Punjab Youth Festival at Lahore. Besides this record, more important was the national anthem by over 60,000 people.

This event points to the fact that we are not short of talented youths.
