As one of the largest countries in the world and soon to be the largest consumerist communist nation, China is too big to be the focus of a singular topic. This week while one part of the nation embraced and celebrated capitalist notions of luxury jewellery and reveled in high end fashion, another part had turned from a peaceful protest to an outright riot with the police over environmental and health concerns. It played host to the third Mahajong World Championship in fiery red and the Scottish tradition of golf in the BMW Masters 2012 Championship.
