MINGORA, Oct 16: Seven people including two women drowned in the Swat River when rope of the chairlift broke in Rameet area of Bahrain on Tuesday.

Local people and police said that two bodies were fished out so far while search for others was continued. Seven people including two women were crossing the river through a chairlift at Rameet area, they said, adding the rope of the chairlift broke all of a sudden when it reached at the middle of the river. As a result all the seven onboard drowned in the river.

The local people started rescue work and recovered bodies of a man and a woman while search for the rest was going on till late night. The victims were identified as Sher Zada, Khaisat Gul, Sher Ali, Amir Zada, Arzo, and the two women whose names couldn’t be ascertained.

MPA Syed Jaffar Shah, Bahrain SDM Mohammad Naeem Khan and police and Levies personnel reached the site of occurrence and took part in rescue work. — Correspondent
