KHAR/GHALANAI, Oct 4: The Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) has expressed concerns over the performance of non-governmental organisations working in the militancy-affected Bajaur tribal region.

The concerns were shown by FDMA Director General Asghar Ali at a meeting with the representatives of different government and non-governmental organisations during his visit to Bajaur on Thursday.

“Only few organisations meet the criteria set by FDMA while most of them don’t perform their basic responsibilities,” he said. He added that FDMA started monitoring of performance and activities of NGOs.

Mr Ali said that strict action would be taken against those NGOs, who failed to improve their performance.

Political Agent Abdul Jabbar Shah and representatives of NGOs briefed the FDMA director general on the ongoing activities in the agency.

In Mohmand Agency, all non-governmental organisations have been directed to submit reports of their activities to the political administration as well as FDMA.

In this connection, a meeting was held at Ghalanai on Thursday that was attended by Political Agent Adil Siddique and FDMA Director General Asghar Ali.
