LAHORE, Sept 30: Valuables worth hundreds of thousands were gutted and a worker suffered burns after a fire broke out in a biscuit-manufacturing unit on Qitar Bund Road near Thokar Niaz Beg here on Sunday.

The Rescue 1122 personnel said the blaze erupted in a portion of the single-storey building (Regal Pvt Ltd) and engulfed other portions.

A factory worker, who suffered burns, was evacuated and shifted to Jinnah Hospital.

Rescue 1122 fire-fighters brought the blaze under control after an effort of 45 minutes. Rescuers said the reason for fire was not immediately known.

A fire also broke out in a paper mill on Pindi Das Road in Shahdara on late Saturday, burning down valuables worth thousands.

Rescue 1122 personnel said that fire-fighters controlled the flames within 20 minutes and prevented major loss. The cause of blaze couldn’t be established.
