HYDERABAD, Sept 14: Activists of Jamaat-ud-Dawa Pakistan and Jamaat-i-Islami demonstrated here on Friday in protest against a film made in the US mocking Islam.

The film has sparked protests across the globe, with American embassies coming under attack in many countries. Activists of the banned outfit gathered outside the press club and shouted slogans against the makers of the film and the US and European countries.

Faisal Nadeem, divisional head of the organisation’s Hyderabad chapter, and Usaid-ur-Rehman who led the protest said the US and European countries must rein in their extremists who were spreading and inciting hatred through literature, films and derogatory sketches.

They said that the Muslims were highly sensitive about their religion and the personality of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon Him) and would never tolerate desecration of their holy books or blasphemy of their prophet (PBUH).

They said that western forces were frustrated over spread of Islam in their countries and were working hard to deter people from embracing the religion, which preached peace, harmony, love and brotherhood. They said that Pakistan was created in the name of Islam and brave and devout Muslims of the country were very much capable of giving the West an adequate response.

Activists of JI protested against the hate movie after Friday prayers outside the Aurangzeb Mosque in Gari Khata. They shouted slogans against the US and European countries and urged them to take action against the elements behind conspiracies against Islam and Muslims.

JI provincial leader Abdul Waheed Qureshi who led the demonstration said the movie was the work of some mentally sick people who blamed Muslims for extremism but in reality they themselves were extremists.—Staff Correspondent
