LAHORE, Sept 11: Former Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid federal minister Shahid Akram Bhinder, along with his son Waleed Akram Bhinder, called on Muslim League-Nawaz President Nawaz Sharif here on Tuesday and announced joining the party.
The father-son duo from Gujranwala had joined the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf after leaving the PML-Q.
Bhinder senior became a federal minister after getting elected to the National Assembly in 2002 elections. However, he stood third when he contested 2008 polls from NA-97, Gujranwala-III.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar, PML-N Secretary-General Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and others were also present at the meeting of Bhinders with Nawaz.
Earlier, Nawaz presided over a PML-N meeting to sort out internal differences in his party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter.
Former KPK chief ministers Pir Sabir Shah, Mehtab Abbasi and Ameer Muqam, besides other representatives from the province were also present.
No decisions made in the meeting were made public as the party will continue consultations on Wednesday (today) as well.
