ISLAMABAD, Sept 4: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has taken notice of the excessive use of official vehicles along with security personnel and guards for escort duty by government officers beyond their entitlement.

A spokesman for the Prime Minister House said on Tuesday that the prime minister has directed strict monitoring to check misuse of vehicles for security and escort over and above the entitlement as per rules.

According to the spokesman, Cabinet Division has issued instructions to all ministries and divisions and their attached departments, subordinate offices, autonomous bodies and corporations to ensure the implementation of the prime minister’s directives in letter and spirit.

It would be pertinent to recall that the use of additional security vehicles is in violation of the entitlement and instructions for observance of austerity measures introduced by the government as well as transport monetisation policy applicable to the entitled officers in BS-20 to BS-22, the spokesman said.
