QUETTA, Aug 31: Lawyers of Balochistan boycotted proceedings of courts for the second consecutive day on Friday on the call of Balochistan Bar Association, Balochistan High Court Bar Association and Balochistan Bar Council in protest against the target killing of Additional District and Sessions Judge Syed Zulfiqar Naqvi.

The judge, along with his driver and guard, was gunned down here on Thursday. The lawyers did not attend proceedings of the high court, sessions and civil courts, anti-terrorism courts and judicial magistrates in the city. Reports coming here from interior of the province said that lawyers also boycotted court proceedings in district headquarters.

Black flags were hoisted at bar rooms of high court, sessions court and district courts to express solidarity with the family of victims.

A statement of the high court said that the Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court and other judges of the court have convened a condolence meeting to pay tribute to Additional District and Sessions Judge late Syed Zulfiqar Hussain Naqvi, his bodyguard and driver.

It requested members of bar to attend the meeting.
