RAWALPINDI, Aug 4: A local court of Rawalpindi on Saturday allowed the constable, currently behind bars for his alleged involvement in the escape of high profile murder suspect, Roohullah, to participate in the National Testing Service (NTS) exam for his MPhil admission.

Additional sessions judge Rawalpindi Kaleemullah Khan on the application of constable Tahir Saeed of Islamabad police directed the superintendent of Adiala jail to ensure the participation of the applicant in the NTS exam and arrange strict security for his appearance at the designated place for the said exam.

Ashfaq Ahmed Malik, counsel for constable Saeed told the court that the post-arrest bail of his client was pending before the area magistrate but the applicant is required to appear in Graduate Assessment Test (GAT) to be held under the NTS for the MPhil admission of 2012.

He said the constable Saeed is a regular police official and had been studying throughout during his service tenure and now he was waiting for final result of M.Ed.

He pointed out that appearing in the NTS exam was the fundamental right of the applicant and the court in order to ensure his return can deploy security staff with him during the exam.

It is pertinent to mention Rooahullah was a key suspect in the murder case of former attorney general and retired judge of Peshawar High Court (PHC) Sardar Khan.

It is alleged that the suspect in connivance with the doctors and the staff of Adiala Jail managed his admission in the DHQ hospital and later with the help of DHQ doctors, paramedical staff and some unknown persons managed to escape.
