QUETTA: OPDs in hospitals across Balochistan province including Quetta remained closed as the strike by doctors against the abduction of Surgeon Dr Din Mohammad Bangulzai continued on Saturday, causing inconvenience to the patients hailing from far-flung areas in the government-run hospitals.

On the call of the Pakistan Medical Association, doctors had boycotted the OPDs for an indefinite period in protest against the abduction of surgeon of Quetta's Bolan Medical College (BMC) hospital, Dr Bangulzai.

The president of PMA Balochistan chapter, Dr. Sultan Tareen and other leaders called upon the government to ensure early and safe recovery of the kidnapped doctor.

The strike affected hundreds of patients who were seen waiting outside the hospitals in the scorching heat.

Due to the strike, no operations of eyes were carried out in helper and LRBT hospitals.

However, doctors and paramedics were present at casualty and emergency wards of the hospitals.
