LAHORE, July 26: Fire again erupted in a portion of a famous bookstore on The Mall on Thursday.

Eyewitnesses told Dawn that some men were removing debris from a portion of Ferozsons when the fire broke out. However, the flames were put out by Rescue 1122 officials shortly. The cause of the fire could not be ascertained yet.

During electricity loadshedding, a fire broke out on the ground floor of the Ghulam Rasool Building or 60 The Mall portion, housing the Ferozsons corporate office on May 30. The flames gradually grew and engulfed the upper portion, reducing to ashes books worth more than Rs150 million. The flames were put out in a week or so.

Renovation of Ferozsons on The Mall was initiated last month and the historical bookshop was partially opened for buyers early this month.
