KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced, on Tuesday, the business (banking) and office hours for the ensuing Islamic holy month of Ramazan.
According to the SBP statement, all banks, development finance institutions (DFIs), microfinance banks (MFBs) and field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation (SBP BSC) will observe business (banking) hours from 8.30am to 2.00pm without any break from Monday to Thursday. Meanwhile, their Friday business hours will be between 8.30am and 12.30pm, without any break.
Banks will remain shut on July 23 for the collection of Zakaat.
Ramazan is expected to commence from July 21 or July 22, subject to the sighting of moon.

That makes it 26 hours a week, if people remember to be a bit more honest in Ramazan.
Otherwise, in reality, people would arrive around 9 O'clock, having taken a nap after Sahur.
And, then, they have to offer Zuhar prayers, particularly in Ramazan. So, take an hour off there.
In effect, the ttotal working hours could be about 20. Should we call it a Gift from State bank?
Are they also paying for it? Can a poor country afford such luxury of working less?

Isn't Ramzan supposed to test our patience? Working in an air conditioned office full time while fasting is not too much on any healthy human being's body or mind. I think it is shameful to reduce working hours for people with office jobs. It is another thing for labourers. And people do not mind their language or anger in Ramzam either. Makes one think what Ramzan is really "celebrated" for each year in this country.

Dear there are other related issues too. A big issue is of traffic. Already, traffic starts getting VERY heavy as the Iftaar time approaches. It gets extremely messy after Asr prayers. So it's better to transfer as much traffic load to earlier points of time as possible.
I do however agree with the "theme" and essence of your comment. I certainly agree with you that we behave the opposite way of how we have been told to behave while fasting. We as a nation now lack that lustre of character.
