LAHORE, July 6: The Shadbagh police on Friday registered a case against more than 130 people for damaging windowpanes of vehicles during protest on Ring Road.

Residents of Shadbagh blocked Ring Road for not providing facility of U-Turn, which had resulted in several road accidents.

During agitation the protesters damaged windowpanes of several vehicles but dispersed before the police arrival.

Dies of torture: 42-year-old robbery suspect, who was shifted to Lahore General Hospital by the police some days ago, died of torture wounds at the hospital on Friday.

Relatives of the deceased Zamir Shah of Baghbanpura lodged strong agitation at the hospital alleging that he was tortured by the CIA Cant police.

Mother of two, Rehana told reporters that CIA North Cant police led by ASI Ismail picked up her husband Zamir from her house a week ago and subjected him to severe torture which led to his death.

She said Zamir had been involved in crime before marriage in 1993. He later began his business in Karachi but his past always haunted him.

The police, however, denied allegation saying he died of disease.

The body was sent to the city morgue for autopsy.
