Hina Rabbani Khar

Hina Rabbani Khar is the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Born January 19, 1977, Khar is the daughter of a landowner and politician, Ghulam Noor Rabbani Khar.

She received her Bachelors degree from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and went on to earn her Masters in Management Sciences from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA.

In 2002, Khar was elected to the National Assembly, a position held previously by her father, a PML-Q candidate. During 2004 and 2007, she served as the Minister of State of Economic Affairs.  In 2008 she was denied a ticket for re-election which resulted in her move to join Pakistan Peoples Party.

Khar was appointed Foreign Minister in July 2011, making her the first and youngest female to serve as the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
