New Delhi: Two day secretary-level talks between Pakistan and India over the distribution of water and the construction of Wullar barrage project on River Jhelum are currently in session.

The Pakistani delegation in Delhi comprising of thirteen high ranking officials is being headed by Secretary for Water and Power, Imtiaz Qazi. The head of the Indian delegation, D.V. Singh, has expressed hope that a solution to this issue would be found by way of these talks.

India had begun construction of the Wullar barrage in 1985 in Indian-held Kashmir, whereas Pakistan had lodged a formal complaint against its construction in 1987 after which development work was halted.

Bilateral discussions on the Indus Water Commission between India and Pakistan will also take place on March 28 and 29 in New Delhi.
