KARACHI, April 22: Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) has acquired a Supramax bulk carrier, named “Hyderabad” for its subsidiary company, M/s Hyderabad Shipping (Private) Ltd. The MV Hyderabad is 52,951 tons deadweight Supramax Bulk Carrier built in 2004 by Oshima Shipyard, Nagasaki Japan.

The vessel was purchased from a company named Jewel Maritime Inc. Kingston, St Vincent and the Grenadines managed by Emaarat Maritime Ltd, UAE.

The acquisition of MV Hyderabad on April 21, 2011, is in line with PNSC's commitment towards modernisation, development and strengthening of the national flag carrier.

The PNSC is presently expanding its fleet under its five- year programme which focuses on multi-dimensional capacity-building by inducting liquid bulk carriers, bulk cargo carriers and container ships, says a press release.
