KHAIRPUR, Dec 26: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has welcomed a decision taken by his estranged cousins Javed Shah Jilani and his sister Bibi Irshad Jilani to join the Pakistan People's Party.

Speaking at a reception held here on Sunday, Mr Shah said the people of Khairpur had been associated with the PPP since its inception and had rendered tremendous sacrifices for it.

Provincial ministers Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, Jam Saifullah Dharejo, Manzoor Hussain Wassan, Mukesh Kumar Chawla and MNA Nafisa Shah also spoke on the occasion.

Ms Irshad Jilani had been a PPP activist and her brother Jawed Shah had joined the party after retiring from government service in late 1980s. But they developed differences with the party's provincial leadership over the past decade and joined Pir Pagaro's Pakistan Muslim League-F.
