RAWALPINDI, Dec 6: Tehrik Nifaz Fiqa-i-Jafariya (TNFJ) chief Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi on Monday said the government was bound to provide security to Azadari processions and no restrictions would be tolerated. Addressing a press conference at Ali Masjid here, he said in accordance with May 21, 1985, Junejo-Moosavi agreement, the government should ensure security for the Azadari processions. He opposed restriction on majalis, processions and use of loudspeaker.

Moosavi said restriction by the Punjab government on Rehmanpura Zuljinah procession despite Lahore High Court’s orders was an open contempt of the court and a violation of fundamental human rights.

Announcing a 19-point code of Azadari in connection with Muharram, the TNFJ chief said protection and defence of basic ideology should be preferred at every level. All schools of thought should be respected and no interference should be made in one another’s ideologies. Discipline and timings should be followed during Majalis-i-Aza and mourning processions and the dignity and sanctity of Azadari should also be maintained.

To a question regarding amendment to the blasphemy law, he said constitutions of states and governments are amended but Shariat and Quran cannot be changed till the Day of Judgment.
