KARACHI, Oct 8: Over 4,000 handicapped children will participate in a day-long fun filled activity at an amusement park in Clifton on October 15, which is observed throughout the world as the White Cane Day.

This was announced at a joint press conference on Monday by artist and noted social worker Jimmy Engineer and the Pakistan Hotels Association chief Syed Arshad Ali.

They said that over 20 organizations, that were involved in working with the handicapped children, had agreed to send their children, but any other forum could also contact the organizers on phone No 5686407, so that they could also send their children to participate.

Besides free fun rides, other entertainment programmes being organized on the occasion include puppet show, performances by the clowns, and music show, etc.

Stage artist Farzana Naz, a music teacher at Ida Rieu, Saleem Qureshi, and two visually impaired students of Ida Rieu, Zainab Waheed and Tasneem Maqbool, will perform on the occasion.

The organizations, who have so far confirmed to send their children include: Al Umeed, Darul Sukoon, SOS Village, DEWA, Al Shifa Trust, ABSA, Ida Rieu, Scinosa, Vocational Training Centre for Disabled Children, Shaheed-i-Millat Special Education Centre for Visually Handicapped Children, Quaideen Special Education Centre for mentally Retarded Children, Karachi Vocational Training Centre, Ujala, Parents’ Voice, Institute of Behaviour Problem, Ma Ayesha, ACELP, PREWA and Edhi Home, etc.
