SAHIWAL: Six members of a family were killed when a heavy tractor-trolley hit a car on Kamalia Road, Chichawatni near River Ravi on Tuesday morning.

The car was attempting to cross the trolley whose tyre suddenly burst and it collided with the smaller vehicle.

Witnesses said the trolley was carrying heavy cotton bales that fell on the car and buried the passengers.

Passersby and shopkeepers were the first to rush to the scene. Rescue 1122 took an hour to remove the cotton bales and recover the bodies from the car.

Those killed were identified as Zeeshan, 24; his wife Mahreen, 22; mother Zubaida Bibi, 55; uncle Khadim Hussain, 40; aunt Afshain, 40; and Danial, 5.
