KARACHI: Taking a U-turn, president of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Karachi chapter and Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi has apologised to all ‘Insafians’ (party workers) and Prime Minister Imran Khan for criticising the party chief for the ongoing electricity crisis in Karachi.

Talking to journalists on Friday, he had said that he would raise his voice as gas was not being delivered in Karachi adding that “I am not concerned whether the PTI government is in power, or the PML-N government. The gas delivery in this city is not proper. ...” he said vehemently after visiting the offices of K-Electric and the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited.

Blasting the PTI-led federal government, he had gone on to say “I will make this noise. PM saheb will hear it, Omar Ayub saheb [federal energy minister] will hear it, Nadeem Babar saheb [special assistant to PM] will hear it. I will make them ashamed,” he said.

Mr Naqvi had further snapped: “And I will say to them, have some shame. Two years have passed, solve the problem.”

However, later in the evening he took a U-turn, posting an apology via his Twitter account.

“I would like to apologise to all INSAFIANS. My intention was to say I am going to complain about the energy minister and SSGC to the PM. On hearing the recording words are not exactly conveying that. My apologies to my leader. Who is the most committed & upright man I have met.”
