KASUR: The Karachi-to-Sialkot Allama Iqbal Express remained halted at Changa Manga Railway Station for about two hours on Thursday after one of it bogies developed faults.

According to a railway official, the train arrived at Changa Manga Railway Station at about 9:30am on Thursday and left for destination at about 11:30am. Train examiner staff of Allama Iqbal Express removed the fault. The passengers had to face hardships due to scorching heat and lack of portable water at the railway station.

BODIES: Rescue 1122 officials found the body of a youth in BRB Canal on Thursday who went missing in water three days back while one was rescued near village Rangpur in the limits of Sadar police station.

Earlier, on Wednesday, a youth drowned in a canal near Changa Manga.

The district administration has imposed Section 144 to avoid untoward incidents in canals but it failed to implement the law.

Rescue 1122 fished out the body of Afzal, 22, from BRB canal after a three-day operation. The body had stuck in bushes near village Patvan, some 10km from the point of drowning. Afzal and Andul Rauf, of Bhasarpura locality, were bathing in the Canal to beat the heat when Afzal was swept away in the strong current of the canal.
